on Jan 27th, 2012What You Can do to Clear and Prevent Blackheads

Blackheads are a form of acne that many people over the age of 13 struggle with. While they do not cause the red cysts that acne does they are still unsightly. They are caused be an excess of oils clogging up the sebaceous gland’s duct on the skin. The result is an enlarged pore that is clogged with a plug consisting of melanin, sebum and dead skin cells. While blackheads look black, the material inside may or may not be that color. Since the clogged hair follicles reflect the light at an angle, they look black. The top layer of the plug may also be black due to oxidation reactions, but typically the rest of the material is yellowish or brown. Blackheads may seem like the bane of your existence due to the difficulty in removing them but there are some things you can do to prevent and remove blackheads.
